The award was presented at the 50th edition of the Antigua Portomaggiore Fair held in Italy on September 14 and 15, and the formal ceremony will take place during the EIMA exhibition.

The implement, MINI NF 9+2 VC, won the 1st Prize for the 2024 Edition at this year’s Antigua Portomaggiore Fair. This accolade highlights the significance of innovation in soil management techniques that promote agricultural sustainability and reduce environmental impact in farming practices.

This year’s theme was “Innovation in Mechanization for Sustainable and Safe Agriculture.” This theme aligns with the European Union’s agricultural and environmental policy goals for ecological transition, particularly through initiatives such as the Green Deal, the “Farm to Fork” strategy, and the European Climate Framework.

In line with these principles, the Commission decided to grant the 2024 Edition Award to the MINI NF 9+2 VC, presented by Ovlac through its Italian distributor, Gierre srl.

The award was given for the machine’s ability to “perform shallow soil work (8-20 cm depth), combining the incorporation of surface crop residues with the loosening of deeper soil layers.” The Commission particularly valued this approach for its effectiveness in managing the proliferation of weeds, a challenge often faced by conservation tillage techniques without soil inversion.

Key features of the MINI NF 9+2 VC include:

  • High Work Efficiency: With its nine working bodies and ability to operate at high speeds, the implement offers excellent field coverage capacity.
  • Residue Incorporation: It effectively incorporates crop residues and weed seeds, aiding weed control in the following year.
  • Soil Fragmentation: The working elements perform a fragmentation action that prevents the formation of a hardpan, improving soil health.
  • Soil Porosity: It leaves the soil with an adequate level of porosity, requiring minimal refinement for sowing while reducing compaction and energy costs.
